Friends of JAS Annual Meeting and Board Elections

Friends of JAS will hold its second annual membership meeting and board elections on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Lacey City Hall, Community Room, 420 College Street SE, Lacey.

We hope you’ll join us for an evening of updates, recognition, and a look ahead at what’s next for Friends of JAS.

Our special guest, Sarah Hock, Executive Director of Joint Animal Services, will open the meeting with a brief update on JAS, including what is happening now and plans for the future.

The evening will also include:

• Introductions

• A brief presentation on Friends of JAS accomplishments and current projects

• Recognition of our donors and volunteers

• Board elections

• Announcement of election results

• Light refreshments

Board Elections

The following positions are up for election this year:

• President

• Treasurer

• Member-at-Large, Position 2

• Member-at-Large, Position 3

Nominees must be at least 18 years old and must either have been a Friends of JAS member for at least one year and served on a standing committee for at least three months, or be recommended for board service by a majority vote of the current Board of Directors.

Before taking office, whether by election or appointment, nominees must also successfully complete the background check required by the City of Lacey for access to non-public areas of the Joint Animal Services facility.

Nominations will be accepted before the meeting as well as during the meeting.

There Are Many Ways to Get Involved

Serving on the board is only one way to help.

Friends of JAS carries out much of its work through three standing committees: Communications, Finance, and Projects. Committee members help plan events, support fundraising and outreach, and coordinate projects that benefit the shelter.

Friends of JAS also regularly participates in community events and organizes hands-on projects at Joint Animal Services.
