Our First Project Complete: A New Gazebo for the Dog Play Area

A Place to Rest, Rain or Shine

Friends of JAS is thrilled to announce the completion of our first project — a brand-new gazebo in the dog play area at Joint Animal Services!

This project was made possible by our first grant, generously provided by the Nisqually Indian Tribe. Their support allowed us to purchase all of the materials, while the construction itself was a true labor of love by Friends of JAS members, who volunteered their time and effort to build it from the ground up.

The gazebo provides a cozy, shaded retreat for the dogs and volunteers during the hot summer months and a dry spot during our rainy winters. We also added a picnic table beneath the gazebo, creating a comfortable space for the Joint Animal Services staff to enjoy lunch outdoors or for volunteers to take a break while enjoying time outdoors with the dogs.

We’re proud to see this project come to life — and even more proud to see happy tails wagging beneath it. This gazebo is just the beginning of the many ways Friends of JAS is working to improve comfort, enrichment, and joy for the pets and people at Joint Animal Services.

We’re so grateful to the Nisqually Indian Tribe for their generosity, and to our volunteers for turning this vision into reality. This project is a wonderful example of how donations and community support directly improve the lives of the animals — and the people — who call Joint Animal Services home.

Your donations and support make projects like this possible. Thank you for helping us make a visible, meaningful difference!
